What do we want!? Remote working! REALLY?!

Recently it came out that CEO of Yahoo Marissa Mayer is banning home working. In the article it says “Marissa Mayer has ordered an end to ‘remote’ work as all staff are told to be in the office as part of a new era of collaboration”

Apparently hundreds will now either have to relocate or quit by June. Some of the quotes from the memo mention that this new move is “to become the absolute best place to work, communication and collaboration ... Read more

Demystifying Mobile Web Development

Toward the tail end of last year I read an article suggesting that there was no longer a need for mobile web specialists like ourselves here at Wapple as “…web developers can make one site work across multiple devices/platforms, including PC’s…” It further suggested that the populus will all be smartphone users shortly therefore rendering designing for multiple devices redundant.

This article struck me as particularly misleading for those seeking genuine advice on mobile strategy and creating a future friendly mobile ... Read more

Mobile Marketplace or Jurassic Park? Mobile 2012

Let’s speak plainly here. If you’re a half-decent company and you do not have a mobile strategy then you could be seen as a dinosaur. That is the here and now at the end of 2011. If you’re the same in 2012 then it’s likely you’re going to be buried so deep under the cataclysmic, extinction-grade meteorite that is mobile web that your fossil will never be found.

I have been asked by many in the industry what my predictions are ... Read more
