Get set for a Merry Mobile Christmas
UK consumers are set to spend £1.64 billion via their mobile phones this Christmas. A survey conducted by Kelkoo reveals that the UK is leading the pack within Europe for retail sales on mobiles. Mobile shopping is expected to be 10.7% (£3.68 billion) of European online Christmas sales.
In September 2012 MarketLive conducted a survey which revealed that twice as many consumers are planning to buy their Christmas gifts using a mobile device compared to last year. Cost comparison was at the top of the list as to the reasons why, along with a greater variety of choice than offered in stores.
In a previous blog post we mentioned some of the results of a mobile survey conducted by Google. One of the results was that 75% of users prefer a mobile-friendly site but 96% of consumers say they’ve encountered sites that were clearly not designed for mobile devices.
“Companies are recognizing that websites are not just about ecommerce, they are a gateway to the brand. It used to just be about the transaction, but now consumers need access to mobile, inventory, and more,” Said Todd Pollock, Google’s Head of Retail.
